This Was Not The Time To Suddenly Turn Into A Pincushion

Friday — November 21st, 2008

The last comic of the week. It’s been a hard old slog getting these done but It’s been worthwhile. What do you prefer, one off strips or a bit of a storyline? Let me know, also post some alternative titles for strips up in the comments section, I’d love to see what you guys can come up with.

The Guest Strip Project competition

Fancy your chances as a webcomic artist? Then why not have a go, GSP is running a competition, details are below. And remember it’s all for a good cause.

In April 2008 The Guest Strip Project launched it’s doors, only for one year. It would raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with ads, donations and upcoming merchandise. Five months remain…

This Christmas, we’re doing another Donationathon. On the 1st December is our 100th strip and that spot could go to you. If you haven’t already contributed to the Guest Strip Project all you need to do is a Christmas strip and be one of the 31 artists, webcomic artists or even just fans. As long as you can pick up a pencil, that’s all we need!

Send your entries to moovok@yahoo.com and who knows, you could be the 100th strip of the Guest Strip Project - A feat in itself!

The strip must be 700 x 221, in a gif format and have a Christmas theme including one (or all) of our characters. Don’t forget in your email to include your website you want to be linked to and let’s raise some much needed funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Hurry fast, we only need 31 strips!

Publishing times

publishing-times

At the moment I’m trying to keep ahead with these comics, posting 5 a week Mon-Fri for the rest of November, to make things easy they’ll get publish at 00:00GMT aka midnight of that morning. However at the moment it’s gone 1am already and i’ve just finished the inking for todays comic, since I know the colouring is taking me a good hour+ I’m going to get some sleep since I’m coming down with a nasty cold. Wednesdays post will get promptly updated in the morning, hopefully I can get a buffer going so this kinda of thing wont happen again. For old readers of this comic you’ll probably be surprised that I’m doing so well with these new updates.

The bubble popped

This weekend I attended the Thought Bubble convention. It’s definitely been the best con yet, with an amazing crowd, the usual gang of co-exhibitors and a storming after show party. It’s always nice to make new friends, mostly in the form of Julia, Sarah and Matt who head up Words + Pictures. The girls also drew me this really lovely sketch which will soon be adoring my wall.

I managed to bag a few comics for myself but spent most of the time on my stall and didn’t even see half the exhibition which was a real shame, but I picked up Adam Cadwell’s 2nd collected edition, Lizz Lunney’s new books and a robot zine and photo-story from the Words + Pictures gang.

I didn’t actually get any photos of the stall so here’s one nicked from Sean’s collection:
Phil and Mike on the stall
As per usual I had Mike of Guest Strip Project fame helping out on the stall and we continued with our ninja draw-off tradition, with every sale we did a drawing of a ninja animal or person, with them choosing which they liked the best…here’s some below:

Ninja Moomin
Ninja GiraffeNinja ScorpionNinja Cat

Liz Greenfield swung by and picked up a pink Ninja Bunny.

Anna of Annabisms Ellerbisms fame made this lovely edible treat. I still need to pick up Vol 2 of his delightful comic.
Ninja bunny cake..yum!

More Ninja-things and other random photos from Thought Bubble can be found on my flickr page.

Thanks again to everyone who swung by the stall and said hello, extra thanks to those that bought something or picked up a flyer and there’s dozens of other people I could have also mentioned in this post so sorry for those who missed out on the roll call.

Change happens

Well, I’ve made it (if slightly later than expected) to Ninja Bunny 300, and to celebrate I’ve completely redone the website, including a shop featuring my latest comics, RSS feeds thanks to Wordpress and avatars for comments which I customised with my own plucky little fingers. Ok, that’s enough tooting my own horn. I hope you guys like the new site, I’m planning to update ever weekday for the rest of November, doing this full time wont be easy and I’d really appreciate your support, so if you feel generous make a donation, and you’ll get an exclusive desktop wallpaper for your effort.

On another note it’s Thought Bubble this weekend. If you’re about in Leeds on Saturday swing by and say hello, it’s free entry to cosplayers.
